Safety regulators examination expanded on Mercedes tail
Safety regulators in U.S, The National
Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) have decided on intensifying
their investigation to Engineering Analysis on more than 250,000 Mercedes Benz
C class cars for failure of tail lamp.
Engineering Analysis is a stage which could
end up in recall of vehicles by the regulator.
NHTSA had earlier received 21 complaints
over alleged possible failure of the rear lights assembly failure caused by
melted electrical connector or housing. Regulators have further received over
400 complaints which also involve one injury and five fire incidents.
Mercedes Benz C
class cars being produced during 2008 to 2011 have reported rear lights failure;
an indication towards increased possibility of failure as the vehicles age, so
the investigation was upgraded to further study the risks and frequency of the
issue.
